Sometimes, in order to soothe our little guy to sleep, my husband and I pack up some snacks and hit the road. Last sunday we ended up in Elliott Island, MD. It literally feels like you are at the end of the earth out there. Taking route 50 east to Vienna is the only way I know of to access it. Once there, you drive 18 miles down a winding road with nothing else but beautiful scenery on both sides. It doesn’t surprise me that the Baltimore Sun did an article about the Eastern Shore and Elliott Island was #1 on the “things to see” list.
If you ever wanted a place to “get away from it all” this is it. Sprinkled thru the drive are breathtaking views of the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. The area is so unique that I think the wildlife has caught onto something we haven’t yet. It is so nice to find a place where people haven’t totally inhabited it, where you can see things the way God intended them to be seen. It really is very soothing and inspirational.
